Position Details

What You Will Do 

  • Experienced IFRS Actuarial Specialist role who enjoys challenges and takes pride in delivering complex projects 
  • Co-ordinates and leads Actuarial involvement and input into the Echelon adoption of IFRS 17;
  • Co-ordinates with the Chief Actuary, AVP, Corporate Actuarial, and other Actuarial leadership to develop and implement other Risk Management and stress testing programs;
  • Participate in determining the company’s strategic focus and business strategies.
  • Provide assistance in the production of regulator mandated actuarial reports such as the Appointed Actuary’s Report and Financial Condition Test (FCT);
  • Provide assistance in other large scale projects related to reserve valuation, capital modeling and other corporate actuarial topics, such as Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA);
  • Develop and implement stress testing procedures for both actuarial and company –wide projects;
  • Provide technical guidance and act as actuarial representative while liaising with other departments.

 

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science/Statistics/Math
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in P&C insurance actuarial services
  • Good knowledge with Microsoft Office, as well as Reserving  and Capital modeling tools (ie Resq , Diva or Igloo)
  • Current knowledge of new regulatory developments affecting P&C insurance business 
  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) preferred
  • Experience in mentoring and developing internal actuarial personnel preferred
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills

  • In depth knowledge of IFRS 17 accounting standard, with an ability to communicate its key details to a non-technical audience
  • Is results-driven and action-oriented
  • Proven in-depth business, industry, and technical knowledge, including best practices and standard practices
  • Adaptable and enjoys working in a fast paced environment
