Position Details
What You Will Do
Reporting to the supervisor, the Underwriting Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the underwriting team.
• ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached
• Verification of insurance certificates issued by our brokers.
• Communicate directly with brokers to track current quote requests.
• Assist underwriters with the pre-selection of quotes and summarize basic exposures.
• Completion of worksheets
• Gather and review information for monthly activity reports
• Review, prepare, create, request and send incoming and outgoing mail, reports and forms
• Other assigned duties, including managing the team's inbox
Who You Are
• Post-secondary education in a related field
• Proficient with Microsoft applications - Word and Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work in an environment fostering teamwork
• Ability to thrive in a highly structured, detail oriented environment.
• Ability to effectively manage time and meet departmental deadlines
