Position Details

What You Will Do

The Underwriter will provide underwriting and risk analysis on Personal Lines Insurance Programs. 

  • Knowledge of core products including non-standard personal lines auto, motorcycle and other recreational vehicle insurance
  • Underwriting and pricing of new business, endorsements and renewals of a straightforward nature, while adhering to established policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Effectively interpret insurance policy wordings to assess risk determining acceptability, classification and rating
  • Will be required to work within set authority levels and/or referral processes
  • Works collaboratively with both internal and external partners to resolve matters in a professional manner 
  • Effectively builds a professional rapport with Brokers and Agents 
  • Maintains service level agreements 
  • Develop and manage internal relationships to improve cross functional communications

 

Who You Are

  • 1 + years Personal Lines experience
  • College or University education in a related field is required
  • Enrollment in the CIP program is an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office 
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet departmental deadlines
  • Strong mathematical skills and problem solving skills 
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail and decision making abilities
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
