Position Details

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare regular monthly and ad-hoc journal entries for the Insurance legal entities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements.
  • Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist in reviewing significant variances from budget to actual.
  • Prepare and file quarterly P&C regulatory reporting requirements, as necessary.
  • Prepare the quarterly reinsurance settlement statements.
  • Assist in certain special projects as part of the Company’s continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform monthly and ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support Finance Management and other departments.
  • Support the annual and interim external audit and review process.
  • Assist in technical accounting research, as required.

 Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Accounting)
  • Pursuing CPA designation is considered an asset
  • 3-5 years of significant accounting experience,  Financial reporting or regulator compliance experience within the P&C Insurance space.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and P&C regulatory reporting experience is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems and experience with SAP is an asset
  • Detail-oriented approach with demonstrated analytical skills
  • Assertive self-starter with the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure and meet multiple tight deadlines
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel
