Position Details

What You Will Do

  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners and business users to define business and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
  • Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions
  • Design and implement short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate systems and software
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems
  • Meet with business users to gather, analyze, produce, validate and obtain approval of the Business Requirements Specification
  • Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models
  • Monitor the data warehouse enviro for data quality issues involving daily/monthly loads
  • Perform cross-validation between source applications and data warehouse and/or business intelligence tools to check for consistency and reliability between source and destination 
  • Participate with the business in preparation of the cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
  • Create systems models, business requirement specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to Application Developers
  • Coordinate definition of test cases for Quality Assurance and UAT
  • Provide orientation and training, including creation of training material, to business users for all modified and new systems

Who You Are

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science or management information systems
  • 5+ years work experience in the Insurance industry & 5+ years work experience as a business analyst
  • Guidewire experience is an asset
  • 5 years of experience with hands-on business and data analysis in data warehousing and with leading enterprise data warehousing projects throughout the project life cycle
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques, database design and concepts is mandatory
  • Working technical knowledge of SQL programming languages including relational databases and an understanding of ETL processes and tools
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries and to understand technical specifications to ensure proposed solutions meet business requirements
  • Experience with design, development, and support of business intelligence tools such as Qlikview, Tableau or Power BI for enterprise data warehouse
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems or products
  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows platforms
  • Working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts
  • Extensive experience with core software applications, including Policy Management Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project Professional
  • Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and mainframe applications
