Position Details
What you will do -
- Design, configure and deploy MSSQL Servers and databases (versionsSQL2016/17/19/2022) on premises and public clouds
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production and non-production database environments with stakeholders and department managers
- Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development
- Collaborate with application development teams to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies/procedures
- Participate in IT development projects through data modeling, developing logical and physical database designs
- Document and review database design to ensure optimized data environments
- Participate in the Change Management activities and assist in code deployments and data conversions
- Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels
- Performance and general health / capacity Database Systems monitoring and daily database administration operations and tasks
- Capacity planning, tuning and load balancing of Database servers
- Routine Database maintenance - database rebuilds/re-indexing/expansion and archiving.
- Troubleshooting database/server problems and assisting in various problem resolution as it related to Database Systems
- Database systems upgrades, conversions and patching
- Providing enterprise-wide support for storage and Database backups administration
- Providing daily support for Database production systems including rotational 24/7 coverage and after hours support
- Providing daily support for NonProduction environments; assisting development teams as required
- Administering Database security and establishing effective security controls, participating in Compliance and Audit initiatives
- Design and implement Highly Available systems ensuring Business Continuity, placing necessary Disaster recovery, Data Loss prevention, Data archiving mechanisms to ensure effective protection and integrity of Database systems
Who You Are -
- Minimum 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server (primary/mandatory) and Oracle (secondary/asset) Database platforms knowledge and hands-on experience
- Solid practical knowledge and hands-on experience of deploying Microsoft DB HighAvailability solutions: Always On Availability Groups, Clustering and Mirroring
- College Diploma or University Degree in the field of computer science
- Experience with designing, installing, configuring and supporting databases on both on-premises and public cloud platforms in both Production and NonProduction environments
- Hands-on Database Tuning and Troubleshooting experience
- Strong communication skills
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience working in a collaborative team-oriented environment
- Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
- PowerShell, Python and Unix scripting skills
- Microsoft SQL Certification is preferred
- Oracle Certification (OCP) is an asset
