Position Details

What you will do -

  • Oversee and manage the filing of all GST/HST/QST, retail sales tax, insurance premium tax, and other periodic tax returns and remittances, along with the preparation of related provisions, and reconciliations
  • Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of the annual GST/HST & QST returns, and Annual Information returns for selected listed financial institutions
  • Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of the annual premium tax returns for insurance companies
  • Manage the design, execution, and maintenance of indirect tax policies, processes, and internal control documentation
  • Identify and lead the implementation of tax process improvements and indirect tax opportunities.
  • Research and screen new tax legislation to determine impact on the organization.
  • Review legal agreements and provide indirect tax advice and technical support to ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws and regulations and minimize tax risk
  • Manage internal and external indirect tax audits
  • Manage tax compliance & governance projects
  • Collaborate with other departments on tax related matters and other special projects as required

Who You Are


•    CPA designation.
•    5-7 years post accounting designation experience in tax.
•    Strong accounting, analytical and problem solving skills.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•    Strong proficiency with Excel, Word, Taxprep, SAP (is an asset) and aptitude to learn new technology.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team within tight deadlines.
•    Knowledge of the financial services industry.
•    CPA In-Depth GST/HST.
•    CPA Specialized GST/HST for Financial Institutions is an asset.
