Position Details
As a Senior Bodily Injury Adjuster, you will be responsible for full handling of Automobile and Property bodily injury claims. The files are of varying complexity and the successful candidate will have a dynamic personality and the ability to excel in a high performance environment.
What You Will Do
- Full handle of both direct deal and litigated files
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate automobile and property tort loss of moderate to high complexity
- Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism
- Arrange and manage vendors for your investigation (IA's, surveillance, legal defence, defence medicals)
- Accurately assess and reserve the claim in line with Corporate protocols and guidelines
- Maintain control of expenses through pro-active handling techniques
- Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre-trials and trials
- Obtain approval from Manager on claims above authority
- Assist in training and providing support to the junior and intermediate bodily injury adjusters
- Assist the leadership team with operational objectives and special projects
Who You Are
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years experience handling Casualty claims required
- Strong organizational; decision making and problem solving skillset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to identify and analyze coverage issues
- Expertise in file preparation, and demonstrate ability to negotiate a file to resolution
- Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations
- Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail
- Strong general computer knowledge required
- CIP or working towards designation is an asset
- Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions is an asset
- Knowledge of handling claims across Canada, as well as US exposures is an asset
