Position Details

What you will do:

 

  • Provide direction/training to adjusters on reserving, investigation and settlement of Property claims
  • Coaching/mentoring on strategies to achieve file management and resolution while ensuring adherence to internal procedures and external requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to internal procedures through continual learning and development of the PD adjusting team,  engaging continuous improvement initiatives and performance management. 
  • Performing audits to ensure compliancy and proactive action plans to move claims to resolution.
  • Responsible for maintaining an evolving understanding of litigation trends, case law, mediation/arbitration outcomes and industry trends, transferring this knowledge to the claims team via training sessions and technical bulletins.  
  • Handling of any litigations claims 
  • Create and deliver training materials for onboarding of new adjusters, continuing education for existing adjusters
  • Technical review of claims denials and large loss property damage claims
  • One on One technical coaching with physical damage adjusters
  • Analyze data, processes and analytics to interpret and provide suggestions for departmental improvement
  • Review performance of existing claim vendors, in addition to performing audits to ensure compliancy and proactive action plans to move claims to resolution for all provinces
  • Liaise with operations to create automated data reports, including documentation, toolkits, and FAQ’s, to provide to the business unit with information
     

 

Who You Are:

 

  • FCIP/CIP or Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience handling Property claims required.
  • Strong organizational; decision making and problem solving skillset with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify and analyze coverage issues with expertise in file preparation, and demonstrate ability to negotiate a file to resolution
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations
  • Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail
  • Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions is an asset
  • Knowledge of handling claims across Canada, as well as US exposures is an asset 
  • Experience with coaching/training an asset
