Position Details
Reporting to the Supervisor, Claims Department, the adjuster studies, evaluates and settles personal lines and commercial lines claims.
Respond to inquiries relating to all aspects of a personal lines and commercial lines claim.
Investigate and evaluate claims on a variety of policies to determine coverage, damages, liability and settlement.
Review and analyze policy conditions, provisions and exclusions for different types of claims.
Appoint claims suppliers (appraisers, adjusters, contractors, specialists, lawyers)
Process payments (or denials of payment) in accordance with established reporting levels, policy conditions and guidelines.
Submit all files to the immediate supervisor with recommendations for technical reserves, payments and settlement, with follow-up on file closure.
Provide direct feedback to claims providers to facilitate claims investigations and controls.
Target, direct and manage efforts to maximize subrogation and recourse rights with other parties.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date claims reserves.
Maintain and record outstanding claims reserves and payments in the claims settlement system in a timely manner, and record and report accrued income.
Document claims files with particulars and treatment related to each claim.
Communicate to the underwriting department any information gathered that may affect risk assessment.
Ability to travel as required.
Your profile:
Perfectly bilingual (French and English)
Have a college diploma
Possess an AMF license for personal lines and commercial lines.
CIP or FCIP designation
At least two years' experience as a claims adjuster
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Excellent negotiating, analytical and investigative skills
Excellent oral and written communication, time management, problem solving and organizational skills
Comfortable working in a computerized environment
