Position Details

The Senior Loss Prevention Specialist will provide technical advice on risk management and claims prevention to reduce loss ratios. The incumbent performs preventative visits at our various insured carriers and commercial property owners to monitor existing or potential risks. The Senior Loss Prevention Specialist will make recommendations based on Company policies and technical expertise to reduce risks. 
•    Conduct on-site commercial property inspections in compliance with established requirements and protocols
•    Inspect commercial property for areas with potential for accidents, property damage, etc.
•    Evaluate fire protection systems such as sprinkler systems, fire pumps, water supplies, fire detection, etc.
•    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of property risk control requirements and related codes, standards and best practices
•    Prepare detailed risk assessment reports and recommendation for improvements in accordance to guidelines 
•    Provide design reviews for water-based fire protection systems when appropriate
•    Communicate, consult and/or advise underwriters, brokers and clients/policy holders
•    Provide support in the development, planning and execution on all loss prevention programs and procedures 
•    Support the implementation of loss prevention strategies, initiatives and best practices in the Quebec region
•    Provide high quality service and consultation to our clients and stakeholders 
•    Complete loss prevention projects as assigned
•    Build collaborative and productive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders across all levels at the organization. 
•    Act as the subject matter expert, providing expertise and advice to the underwriting team and other areas of business  

 

Who You Are 
•    Post-secondary education with a focus on technical and/or engineering fields (e.g. Construction, Architecture, Fire Protection Engineering, or similar combination of education and experience.  
•    A minimum of 5 years in property loss prevention
•    Experience in property loss prevention within the insurance industry
•    Knowledge of risk control and safety procedures, such as Provincial Fire and Building Codes. 
•    Prior experience conducting property inspections in an insurance related capacity
