Position Details

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Cargo and Property Damage Adjuster is responsible for oversight and handling of damage to commercial vehicles including Long Haul Trucking and Towing programs. The claims are of varying complexity and the successful candidate will have a dynamic personality and the ability to excel in a high performance environment. 

  • Provide oversight of external adjusters on outsourced claims
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate claims of moderate complexity
  • Assess towing and recovery efforts and the anticipated costs
  • Timely, accurate reserving in line with corporate protocols and guidelines
  • Maintains strong proactive communication with insured, broker repair facilities and supporting vendors 
  • Identify and investigate subrogation opportunities
  • Manage salvage/recovery

The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Who You Are:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • CIP or working towards designation
  • Minimum of 2 years experience handling PD Cargo claims required
  • Strong technical knowledge of cargo legislation applicable to US and Canadian cargo
  • Strong organizational; decision making and problem-solving skillset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording,
    fraud investigations and coverage issues
