Position Details
What You Will Do
The Intermediate Underwriter, Commercial Lines, underwrites and prices new business applications, endorsements and renewals on commercial lines policies within a set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio.
- Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with brokers by providing exceptional customer service
- Work collaboratively to support broker, claims, pricing and accounting inquires
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, responding to emails as required
- Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports
- Assist in monthly business activity reporting
- Willingness to travel as some travel may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Who You Are
- Experience in commercial lines underwriting
- Post-secondary education in a related field is required
- Working towards CIP, FCIP or CRM designation is an asset
- Extensive knowledge and experience with product development and developing underwriting guidelines
- Strong product knowledge and a thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings and the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings
- Excellent analytical skills and decision-making skills
