Position Details

Reporting to the AVP, Corporate Actuarial Services, the Actuarial Specialist is a key contributor in evaluating policy liabilities, producing the appointed Actuary's report and supporting corporate planning and capital management at Echelon.  This position can be located in our Mississauga, ON or Montreal, QC office.

 

What You Will Do 
•    Co-ordinates with the Chief Actuary, Director, Corporate Actuarial, and other Actuarial leadership to develop and implement other Risk Management and stress testing programs;
•    Provides assistance to other large scale projects related to reserve valuation, capital modeling and other corporate actuarial topics, such as Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA);
•    Provide assistance in the production of regulator mandated actuarial reports such as the Appointed Actuary’s Report and Financial Condition Test (FCT);
•    Participate in determining the company’s strategic focus and business strategies;
•    Provide technical guidance and act as actuarial representative while liaising with other departments;
•    Develop and implement stress testing procedures for both actuarial and company-wide projects.


Who You Are 
•    Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics or Math
•    Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) preferred
•    Minimum 5 years of experience in P&C insurance
•    Good interpersonal and communications skills. Encourages and supports teamwork, knowledge sharing, and cohesion within and between teams.
•    In depth knowledge of IFRS 17 accounting standard, with an ability to communicate its key details to a non-technical audience;
•    Is results-driven, action-oriented, and actively monitors performance of implemented tools/methodologies/models.
•    Management skills: actualizes short and medium-term strategic orientations for the sector in action plans, prioritizes goals identified in the strategic plan,  ensures the implementation and follow-up of these goals.
•    Has in-depth technical knowledge, including best/standard practices
•    Adaptable and enjoys working in a fast paced environment;
•    Good knowledge with Microsoft Office, as well as Reserving  and Capital modeling tools (ie Resq , Diva or Igloo)
•    Current knowledge of new regulatory developments affecting P&C insurance business
