Position Details

The Claims Adjuster is responsible for handling of automobile, long haul trucking, motorcycle, and recreational vehicle physical damage claims. The claims are of varying low to moderate complexity and the successful candidate will have a dynamic personality and the ability to excel in a high performance environment. The Adjuster ensures claims are properly investigated, evaluated, and resolved in a timely manner.

What You Will Do

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate personal/commercial lines claims of low to moderate complexity
  • Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism
  • Timely, accurate reserving in line with corporate protocols and guidelines
  • Maintain control over expenses through proactive handling techniques
  • Direct vendor partners as necessary
  • Obtain approval from Manager on claims above authority
  • Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre-trials and settlement conferences
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Supervisor

 

Salary range is not inclusive of total compensation. The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply.

 

Who You Are

  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of customer service experience
  • No previous experience in Claims or Insurance required but would be an asset
  • Any previous Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues is preferred
  • Interested in working towards a CIP designation
  • Strong organizational, decision making and problem-solving skillset
  • Ability to understand complex and legal language from a variety of jurisdictions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail
  • Strong general computer knowledge required
