Position Details

What You Will Do 

The Commercial Accident Benefits Examiner is responsible for commercial accident benefit claims on a national level and will be responsible for the Long -Haul Trucking, Towing, Taxi Dealership outsourced programs.

  • Investigation, evaluation, and settlement of claims of moderate to serious complexity and severity, mainly through claims examining with occasional direct handing responsibilities
  • Proactive identification, optimization and coordination of Priority, Loss Transfer Recoveries/Payouts, WSIB issues and any potential sources of recovery opportunities are identified and pursued to minimize claim losses 
  • Actively participate in settlement of claims at Private mediations and participate in Private Arbitration/WSIAT disputes
  • Negotiating settlement of various claims Extensive knowledge of the SABS, and negotiation plan leading to a reasonable settlement
  • Attend pre-hearings, settlement conferences, examinations for discoveries, WSIAT Tribunals

Who You Are 

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • CIP/FCIP designation or working towards completion is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skillset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits (SABS); Priority & Loss Transfer concepts; Fault Determination Rules; and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT)
