Position Details
What You Will Do
- Understand Echelon’s environment and organizational needs to help the business identify, assess and monitor compliance risk.
- Assist in the development and implementation of infrastructure ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (i.e. OSFI & provincial regulations & guidelines) including the championing of skills required to support compliance objectives.
- Build collaborative and productive working relationships across the organization and to establish, maintain, and continuously improve compliance capabilities, and promote compliance awareness, and build a culture of compliance across the organization.
- Develop and maintain partnership with select business functions as well as operational areas at all functional and leadership levels. Understand the business objectives and plans in order to consistently align Compliance plans with the business strategy.
- Work collaboratively with governance and control functions such as IA, Finance, HR, Risk, IT Security for implementation and embedding a compliance culture with the Associates.
- Completing and filing of Regulatory filings and licence renewals
- Communicate new regulatory developments to business leaders, including compiling quarterly report on regulatory changes
- Maintain Compliance related records within Ethidex regulatory compliance system with Manager, Compliance approval
- Assist, generate and analyze reports to support reporting to SLT and Board
- Gather relevant records from internal department
- With the guidance of the Manager, Compliance provide general advice and assistance to business units on Regulatory Compliance
- Assist with Cobblestone CMS, including scanning and adding new contract records
- Organize, draft, edit, and proofread a variety of governance documents (Meeting Minutes, Committee Charters, Committee Chair Job Descriptions)
Who You Are
- Completed post-secondary education in legal, insurance or finance
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an analyst capacity within a legal, finance, compliance or similar department.
- Corporate law clerk or legal assistant is an asset
- CIP or CRM designations an asset
- Excellent negotiation, oral and written communication skills. Ability to cater and customize communications to suit the needs of various stakeholders, including, all levels of management, executives, and external stakeholders.
- Prior Ethidex regulatory compliance management system experience an asset
- Prior experience with OSFI and provincial insurance regulatory compliance requirements, OR knowledge of the Insurance, Financial Services and/or banking industry and regulatory environment
- Prior knowledge/experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance and Controls frameworks
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
