Position Details

What You Will Do
•    Manage existing portfolio of accounts with a high level of autonomy, assessing the customers’ financial, technical, and organizational capacity within Echelon’s appetite
•    Ensuring the profitability of Bond products, maintenance of Bond underwriting standards and portfolio quality management
•    Negotiate accounts and/or bond specific terms & conditions
•    Demonstrated ability to provide detailed recommendations of bond and account support utilizing highly developed skills in financial and credit analysis
•    Proactively engage in the target account process, developing and managing a qualified list of opportunities
•    Manage and develop new and existing relationships with key brokers
•    Underwrite new surety accounts utilizing Echelon’s underwriting framework 
•    Update and implement internal controls, standards and procedures for the department
•    Establishes and foster communication between various functional areas
•    Contribute and support the development of strategic goals and objectives for the Surety department
•    Participation in team meetings, providing updates related to assigned portfolio of accounts, brokers and / or territory, market intelligence, etc.
•    Foster an environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork and a high level of professionalism


Who You Are
•    Completion of university degree in Business or Economics with a strong preference for an MBA
•    Minimum 8 years of Surety related experience 
•    ACSB designation or working towards the designation preferred
•    Strong industry knowledge of surety and reinsurance, including the legal and regulatory framework
•    Exceptional negotiation and credit assessment skills 
•    Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and effectively build rapport
•    Strong attention to detail, and ability to analyze data and present recommendations as needed
•    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Experience in people management, providing coaching and mentoring to the team
