Position Details
What You Will Do
- Provide underwriting exceptions to specialty line guidelines when necessary while maintaining a profitable portfolio
- Revising existing underwriting guidelines and/or establishing new underwriting guideline while ensuring its within the organization’s risk appetite
- Conduct audits and generate audit reports
- Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with MGAs by providing exceptional customer service
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required
- Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports
- Assist in monthly business activity reporting
Who You Are
- Post-secondary education in a related field and/or a CIP designation is required. Working towards FCIP or CRM designation is an asset.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial lines underwriting
- Experience with casualty underwriting an asset
- Strong product knowledge and thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings with the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings
- Excellent analytical skills and decision-making skills
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish professional relationships
