Position Details
What You Will Do
Provide underwriting exceptions to specialty line guidelines when necessary while maintaining a profitable portfolio
Revising existing underwriting guidelines and/or establishing new underwriting guideline while ensuring its within the organization’s risk appetite
Conduct audits and generate audit reports
Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached
Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with MGAs by providing exceptional customer service
Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required
Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports
Who You Are
Post-secondary education in a related field and/or a CIP designation is required. Working towards FCIP or CRM designation is an asset.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial lines underwriting
Bilingual; French and English is required
Experience with casualty underwriting an asset
Strong product knowledge and thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings with the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings
Excellent analytical skills and decision-making skills
Excellent communication skills both oral and written; French would be an asset
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Able to effectively set priorities to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish professional relationships
