Position Details

What You Will Do

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for the organization, working with business leaders to establish budget targets, expenditure requests, and optimize resource allocation

  • Monitor budget adherence and provide regular updates on financial performance to department leaders and senior leadership

  • Collaborate with key business leaders to define critical information needs, providing guidance regarding availability of data, and data matter expertise regarding current financial systems

  • Work on FCT, ORSA budget requirements and to provide Actuarial and Risk department with financial numbers and variances information

  • Conduct ongoing variance analysis of actual results versus budget and forecast to improve future budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Continuously improve upon the budgeting and forecasting process, driving efficiencies through the budget process

  • Lead financial modeling efforts for the development and growth of the organization

  • Model potential changes to capital structure, acquisition and divestiture planning

  • Identify trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications / insights to support business initiatives

  • Participate as a key thought leader of the finance team, influencing decision making, identifying organizational priorities

  • Identify needs and establish priorities of the business in collaboration with other leaders and departments

  • Prioritizing workload, reviewing and improving the quality, accuracy and insight of team analysis

  • Evaluate the work flows, quality and quantity of work for the team to ensure service levels are being achieved

 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred

  • CPA designation

  • Minimum of 7 years of financial/analytical experience, along with experience at leading financial analysis projects preferred 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading and managing staff

  • Experience within the insurance sector required

  • Must have a solid understanding of IFRS, specifically IFRS17

  • Experience presenting to senior management and other stakeholders

  • Experience initiating and leading projects and demonstrated ability to work with senior managers and key stakeholders
