Position Details
You will be the driving force behind optimizing and enhancing our Guidewire systems, ensuring they effectively support our specialty insurance products and operations. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technology, leading system improvements that streamline workflows, support business process changes, and enhance our products. This isn’t just about maintaining systems—it’s about transforming them. You will work closely with Business, Technology and our Operations team to assess impact, estimate and solution design while sequencing enhancements that make a tangible impact. Your deep expertise in Guidewire applications, insurance processes, and IT systems will be critical in modernizing our platform, ensuring it delivers speed, accuracy, and flexibility to meet evolving business needs. What You Will Do
- Define the overall Product vision of Guidewire Maintenance while deciding the sequencing and prioritization of all guidewire enhancements that make up the product roadmap
- Work with business stakeholders to understand and align on business problem, scope, business impact, business benefit and how these relate to the overall product vision.
- Work with business solutions consultants and business stakeholders, oversees the requirement gathering process define high level requirements and acceptance criteria within each feature and continuously iterate to meet the definition of ready.
- Act as the primary communicator between business and technology teams while inspecting and evaluating requirement gathering and the development process.
- Share the product roadmap with business and IT stakeholders to ensure product goals and vision are clear and aligned with Business Objectives.
- Host and participate in scrum meetings to track progress on dependencies, re-prioritize key deliverables, identify key impediments and risks, and measure the teams’ target capacity to deliver.
- Negotiate with business leaders to sequence the Guidewire Maintenance Work required to support business deliverables.
- Own the Change Management Strategy as it relates to each Guidewire Maintenance Request and it’s impact on business readiness to accept the system functionality changes
Who You Are
- Post-secondary education in Business or Information Technology
- Minimum 5 years' proven experience as a Product Owner within the Insurance Industry
- Certified Product Owner (CPSO, PSPO I, PSPO II) will be considered an asset
- CIP, CRM, CBAP, CAPM, PMP preferred but not required
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
- Extensive knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile development process and best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Strong technical acumen and demonstrated experience in data gathering, data analysis, data backfilling, and the creation of conceptual and logical models
