Position Details
We’re seeking a Guidewire System / Product Owner to help evolve our core business systems that support specialty insurance products and operations. This role focuses on delivering practical, well-sequenced enhancements that improve workflows, support product changes, and align with business priorities. You’ll work closely with business, technology, and operations teams to analyze business needs and assess system impact; contribute to solution design and estimation prioritize; and sequence the feature backlog for maximum value. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in Guidewire applications (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter), a solid understanding of personal and commercial lines insurance products and processes, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our platform is impactful, accurate, and flexible - ready to meet evolving business needs.
What You Will Do:
- Define and maintain the Guidewire Maintenance roadmap, aligning business goals with technology strategy.
- Prioritize and sequence enhancements, upgrades, and fixes based on business impact and technical feasibility.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand and align on business problem, scope, and impact, and facilitate solution design that ties back to the overall system vision.
- Work with Business Solutions Consultants and business and IT stakeholders to facilitate the requirement gathering process and acceptance criteria for each feature, and continuously iterate to meet the definition of ready.
- Act as the voice of business in sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives, including inspecting and evaluating requirements gathering and the development process.
- Partner with IT to identify and track cross-system and other dependencies, identify key impediments and risks, and ensure effective coordination and solution delivery.
- Work closely with the UAT team to influence testing strategy and approach for all Guidewire changes.
- Maintain system documentation, workflows, and release notes.
- Own the change management strategy for Guidewire Maintenance features and releases, including supporting demos and training efforts for end-users and stakeholders, to ensure business readiness and user acceptance.
Who You Are:
- Post-secondary education in Business or Information Technology
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Product Owner or Business System Owner within the Insurance Industry, with 2+ years in Guidewire platforms.
- Certified Product Owner (CPSO, PSPO I, PSPO II) will be considered an asset.
- CIP, CRM, CBAP, CAPM, PMP preferred but not required
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
- Extensive knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile development process and best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Strong technical acumen and demonstrated experience in data gathering, data analysis, data backfilling, and the creation of conceptual and logical models
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Guidewire configuration tools preferred.
- Guidewire certifications and experience in commercial and/or specialty insurance would be considered an asset.
