Position Details
What You Will Do
• Oversee Finance automation projects acting as a liaison with IT
• Familiarity within Insurance accounting standard IFRS 17
• Preparation and review correctness of financial statements
• Take accountability for overseeing timely closing of Underwriting systems, Reinsurance system and co-ordinate
• Review bank account reconciliations, and clearing accounts
• Prepare and process monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, adjusting entries to balance sheet, income statement for financial reporting
• Prepare monthly overriding and contingency commissions entries
• Setup and update Reinsurance system and verify correctness of test results
• Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual preparation of financial statements, commentaries and other supporting documents
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reinsurance reports to divisions and reinsurers
• Conduct audits and advise findings and recommendations
• Regulatory reporting; prepare and assist in quarterly and annual P&C1 statements and worksheets
• Strategic Management; Provide support regarding strategic management planning and implementation of presentation and analysis of internal controls
• Year-end Audit functions; Prepare working papers for auditors review, discuss variances, and provide explanation
Who You Are
• University degree/College diploma in Accounting or Business related discipline
• Professional designation (CPA,CGA, CMA, CA)
• Minimum 3-5 years experience with month, quarter and year end
• Work experience in a P&C insurance industry is required and familiarity with IFRS 17
• Ability to adapt to other new systems easily
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office applications
• High level of accuracy with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Strong decision making, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to communicate accounting and finance information
• Advocate for continuous process improvement and optimization
