Position Details
As the Unit Manager, Business Solutions, you will lead a team of Business Consultants specializing in Guidewire applications, including Production Support, and UAT. You will oversee day-to-day operations, provide strategic direction, and ensure the team delivers high-quality solutions that align with organizational goals. You will balance your time with hands-on involvement in complex initiatives ensuring business expectations are met with technology needs against people management responsibilities such as coaching, performance management, and career development. You will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, IT, and your consulting team to ensure projects, enhancements, and production support activities are executed seamlessly, on time, and with measurable business value.
What You Will Do
• Develop and implement a strategy for building a comprehensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) discipline for Guidewire maintenance
• Design and implement a framework / scorecard to measure effectiveness of Guidewire Maintenance UAT testing efforts
• Oversee the planning and execution of the UAT phase assigned projects across Guidewire and other operational systems
• Provide leadership and support in creating complete and comprehensive test plans and strategies to ensure adequate coverage, backward compatibility, and quality releases
• Ensure project stakeholders are informed about test plans and test case execution through regular and clear communication channels
• Oversee the Guidewire Helpdesk team responsible for resolving user issues, providing training, and handling system access requests
• Establish and enforce SLA standards for ticket resolution and user support
• Provide tiered support by escalating complex issues to IT, vendors or developers when necessary
• Work with leadership, BSG associates, business SMEs and partner organizations to maintain an effective maintenance testing and support team based on project requirements and infrastructure setup
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, testing efficiency, and support processes
• Regularly conduct post-mortem reviews with consultants to assess the execution of UAT test phases, including scorecard measurement, and identify opportunities to improve processes and implement new methodologies
• Conduct post-release analysis to measure the success of each release including whether any issues arose prior to, during, or following the release that could have been mitigated or avoided and design and implement strategies to address these issues in future releases
• Other duties as assigned
Who You Are
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Information Technology, or Computer Science
• 3-5 years in a P&C insurance environment, preferably in a technology (e.g., IT support, systems administration) role
• 3-5 years of experience leading, mentoring, and/or coaching a team
• Prior experience in planning, deploying and managing testing efforts preferred
• Experience with Software Testing Life Cycles and Agile Methodology preferred
• Experience in design of detailed test plans, and creation and execution of test scripts preferred
• Prior experience in a production support and/or incident management preferred
• Experience with Guidewire, Jira and Confluence is strongly preferred
• Working towards PMP, CIP, and/or Six Sigma an asset
• Excellent communication skills
