Position Details
What You Will Do
- Leads, manages and develops claim associates to maximize full performance potential.
- Provide coaching on claims technical skills and strategic direction on claims handling
- Oversight of consistent reserving practices in accordance with reserving philosophy
- Assist with review and preparation of large loss reports
- Manage distribution of workload and monitor capacity and resourcing
- Works with management in executing claims corporate strategies, creating performance targets & Shared Success Goals that complement those strategies.
- Analyzing reports and creating action plans to ensure targets and goals are being achieved.
- Completion of claim reviews to ensure appropriate application of department requirements for handling including: coverage, investigation, reserving, service levels, vendor usage, recovery and evaluation.
- Ensure compliance with Regulatory bodies in various provinces.
- Accountable for the customer experience as delivered by the team.
- Responds to customer concerns and complaints in an effective and timely manner; that customer concerns are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 48.
- Collaborate with Ombudsperson to resolve formal complaints
- Promotes Echelon’s escalation process.
Who You Are
- Post-secondary diploma/degree, or CIP designation, or industry experience as an equivalent
- A minimum of 7 years of claims handling experience; handling complex files
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience
- Relevant and progressive claims experience, inclusive of technical and coverage issues, management / resolution.
- Familiarity with established and recent case law
- Understanding/appreciation of various legal jurisdictions across North America
- Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
- Use of claim operating systems
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook)
- Strong Leadership, Communication, and multi-tasking skills
