Position Details
The Underwriter, Commercial Lines (Western Region) will underwrite and price new business applications, endorsements and renewals of low complexity on small commercial packages and business policies within a set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio.
- Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates
- Make risk selection decisions for renewals and endorsements and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules and certifications
- Manage and achieve excellent working relationship with brokers
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required
- Work collaboratively to support broker, claims, pricing and accounting inquires
- Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports
- Other duties as assigned

The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Who You Are
- 1 - 3 years of experience in underwriting commercial property policies
- Post-secondary education in a related field, and/or currently holds or working towards CIP is required
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task
- Able to effectively set priorities to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail
- A team player with a positive attitude to achieve excellent service delivery
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
